Aston Martin V8 Series 3 - A Love for Life(time)
Specifications
History
Experience the timeless elegance and raw power of this Aston Martin V8 Series 3, first registered on June 1st, 1979. The iconic grand tourer represents the pinnacle of British automotive craftsmanship, blending sophisticated design with exhilarating performance. The Series 3 introduced significant refinements over its predecessors, making it a highly sought-after classic today.
Under the sculpted bonnet lies the heart of this beast: a potent 5.3-liter (5340cc) V8 engine, renowned for its robust power delivery and distinctive exhaust note. While specific power figures could vary depending on the exact specification and market, the Series 3 typically produced around 304 horsepower (227 kW), allowing for impressive acceleration and a top speed in the region of 240 km/h (150 mph). This particular model, registered in 1979, features the earlier Weber carburettors.
Even though little is known from its early history, this Aston Martin V8 was shipped to Aston Martin Lagonda of North America, Inc. on the 22nd of February 1978. Through Hollywood Sports Cars, a prominent dealership at the time, the car was sold to a Mr. George Hata in Tokyo, a well-known figure in the world of Shotokan karate and known for his contributions to the art, particularly in Canada. The car was delivered in Japan in January 1979 and first registered on the 1st of June of that same year.
In 2011, thirty-two years later, the Series 3 was bought by its current German owner. For him, the ‘love of a lifetime’, which story is told in the 2013 Summer edition of the Aston Martin Quarterly Magazine of which a copy comes with the car.
From that moment on, the history is well documented and the speedo which showed 38.995 miles was changed for a km/h speedo and 10.125 kilometres were driven in ten years adding up to just over 72.500 kilometres. Over the years the car was well maintained and some chassis work was carried out by a well-known Aston Martin specialist in the North of Germany who also undertook some suspension work.
Noble House now has the privilege to sell this owner beloved Aston Martin V8.
This Series 3 needs some work on the floor panels in the cabin and the spare tyre well. The upper part of the boot area also needs attention. The paintwork and the interior have a lovely patina. Overall a mechanical recommissioning is recommended which, along with some bodywork to be considered, Noble House can execute and improvements can be discussed.
Sold “As Is”, she will travel the World’s roads again. Built in Newport Pagnell, then to Hollywood and via Japan and Germany to the Netherlands where she is now. What will be the next destination of this comfortable long-distance tourer? Will she be your Love of a Life(time)?
Please contact us to discuss.
