1992 BMW E34 525ixT Maintenance list


Bought this car from the original owner’s son, from Alaquas Spain (Close to Valencia) Car is a Spanish market car its whole life. Drove it back to Lithuania (3500KM) with no problems at all. The car is rust free. Being a 33 year old car it does have some minor defects on the body, such as paint chipping and a few dents (Typical for a Spanish market car that was used as a daily driver)

The engine is healthy and good. M50 with rebuilt VANOS. The car is being used daily in the nice weather and there was no salt exposure. Accident free I am the official 2nd owner.

As stated the car does have a few dents and scratches. The left side fender was repaired because it had a decent sized dent. A spare rust free white fender will come with the car. The fender right now looks ok and good. Had to get it repaired to get “H” (Historic) plates. TUV is valid till the beginning of 2029.

The good:

• New aftermarket smoked DEPO headlights as the old lenses were cracked.
• New hood and truck shocks.
• New blower motor.
• New MAF sensor.
• Rebuild VANOS (By previous owner).
• Rear self leveling suspension removed (SLS) by previous owner.
• All new 6 spark plugs.
• 2 new ignition coils.
• 2 new fuel injectors and 4 refurbished.
• New fuel filter + fuel filter mount.
• New fuel door plastic bracket replaced.
• *OLD FUEL PUMP* Works fine but in the near future might be a good idea to do it as a preventative thing.
• 2 new tire sets. (8 tires) 1 set is summer, the other one is winter.
• All vehicle fluids changed (Engine oil, differentials, transmission, brake fluid, coolant and power steering fluid.
• All 3 new wiper blades.
• New water pump (From previous owner).
• New coolant expansion tank with bleeder screw (Not installed yet) Old one is fine. No leaks anywhere.
• New upper and lower rad hoses (Not installed yet) Old ones are ok, no leaks.
• New fan clutch.
• New metal thermostat housing with new thermostat. (Not installed yet) old ones are ok and there are no leaks.
• New clutch (Previous owner).
• New original BMW front shocks (Previous owner)
• New front and rear brake rotors (Not installed) Old ones are starting to pulsate but they work fine just a bit of a vibration on hard breaking.
• New front stabilizer links.
• New steering column protective rubber boot.
• Wheel alignment.
• New fuel tank mount straps.
• Engine bay washing.
• New valve cover gaskets + bolt seal rings.
• CV joint protective rubber boot replaced.
• Suspension joint restoration.
• New steering column robber
• New steering tie rods
• Transmission refresh/repair.
• New custom made and extended+ rebalanced front and rear driveshafts. (NLA parts) Now they are fully serviceable.
• Differentials were refreshed too, new bearings. (Have a spare diff too that will come with the car).
• Exhaust system bracket replaced.
• Multiple gaskets were replaced in the drivetrain area.
• Center support bearings repaired.
• Transfercase bearings replaced and refreshed the transfercase itself.
• Fork bushings replaced.
• Differential bushings replaced.
• Gear box rubber mounting replaced.
• New guibos.
• New 3D printed panoramic sunroof lifters (Sunroof fully works and opens all ways)
• New headliner reupholstery.
• New dark window tint.
• I am keeping the “H” Plates with me

Being a 33+ year old car it is not perfect but a lot of the problems have been fixed.

• The AC condenser is leaking so the AC condenser needs to be replaced and refilled. (Can do this job for easily for extra 300Euro)
• Various dents and scratches.
• The interior could use a restoration to make it perfect.
• Trunk tools are missing (Bought it like that).

The car is very reliable now and really safe to drive anywhere. I am a BMW enthusiast. I have had multiple E34s and this is time to downsize. Lots of money spent and the car is VERY WELL maintained.

Facelift power mirrors come with the car, self dimming rear view mirror upgrade, have a full button OBC and a matching coin tray too.
